2010년 8월에 오픈한 국내 소셜 쇼핑 사이트 중 하나이다. 2014년 5월 미국 세콰이어 캐피털로부터 1억 달러를, 같은 해 11월 미국 블랙록으로부터 3억 달러를 투자받고, 2015년 6월에는 손정의 회장이 10억 달러 투자를 약속하여 화제가 되었다. 소프트뱅크의 투자로 쿠팡의 기업가치가 5조원대 규모로 평가받게 되면서 이마트의 시가총액에 근접했다는 분석까지 나왔다. (이분 정말 투자 많이 하시네요..!) 전자상거래 업체가 다른 택배 업체를 쓰지 않고 직접 고용하는 모델은 쿠팡이 최초라고 하며, 타 업체와 비교해 우월한 급여조건과 친절도를 내세우고 있다.

대표이사 김범석은 1978년생인데, 아버지가 대기업 주재원이어서 어린 시절 대부분을 외국에서 보냈다. 중학교 시절 미국 유학을 가서 '디어필드 아카데미'(미국 10위권 이내 명문 사립학교), 하버드 대학교 학부(정치학 전공), 하버드 재학 중이었던 1998년 잡지 '커런트'를 만들었고, 2001년 뉴스위크에 매각했다. 대학 졸업 후 2002년부터 컨설팅펌 보스턴컨설팅그룹(BCG)에서 2년간 일했다. 회사를 그만둔 후 2004년 명문대 출신들을 겨냥한 월간지 '빈티지미디어컴퍼니'를 설립했다가 2009년 매각했다. 2009년에는 하버드 대학교 MBA에 입학해서 졸업했다. 그리고 2010년에는 한국에 돌아와 창업멤버 7명과 함께 쿠팡을 창업했다. 창업멤버들이 다 쟁쟁한 사람들이었다. 전 기획재정부장관 딸, sbs pd, 변호사, 아이비리그졸업생(아이비리그 유학비용은 1년에 1억 정도 한다.) 등등.. 애초에 금수저들이 모여 만든 회사라 자수성가라고 보긴 어렵다는 얘기가 있다. 초기 자본금 30억원은 매버릭캐피탈과 알토스벤처스 등으로부터 투자받았다. 포브스가 2016년 4월 발표한 2016년 ‘한국의 50대 부자’에서 36위에 올랐다.

기본적으로 쿠팡맨은 상시채용이고 개발자 직종도 공채가 많은 편인듯 합니다.

아래 사진은 2016년도 하반기 개발자 공채 포스터인데요, 몇몇 대학교에서 입사설명회도 진행했습니다.

이곳에서 신입의 기준은 근무 이력이 1년 이하인 사람입니다.

지원자격은 4년제 정규대학 졸업자 또는 2017년 2월 졸업 예정자로 학사 학위 이상 취득자이며 개발에 대한 열정을 가진 인재라면 전공에 상관없이 누구나 지원 가능하다. 

지원자의 스펙 보다 직무 적합성을 객관적이고 공정하게 평가하기 위해 지원서 기재사항 중 성별, 생년월일(나이), 사진, 가족사항, 주소, 수상실적 등 역량평가에 필수적이지 않는 사항은 제외된다.

위처럼 재미있는 것도 있습니다. 쿠팡캐시를 준다고 하니 안되더라도 경험 겸 연습 겸 시도라도 해보는 것도 좋을 것 같습니다.

사실 저는 보자마자 이거 걍 돌려보면 안되나..? 하는 생각이 들었는데 시도해보지는 않았습니다.ㅎㅎ;

CATCH Test는 개발자가 지녀야 할 기본지식과 문제해결능력을 검증하기 위해 쿠팡의 개발자들이 자체적으로 개발한 직무역량 테스트입니다.

기술면접은 전공 및 기술역량을 평가하는데, 실제로 프로그램을 코딩하고 알고리즘을 구현 또는 시스템을 설계하는 형태로 진행됩니다.

인재상 면접에서는 개발자로서 갖춰야 할 적극적인 사고, 호기심, 성장가능성을 집중적으로 살펴봅니다. 단, 면접관이 영어를 사용할 수도 있다고.. 면접자는 영어 또는 한국어로 대답하면 됩니다.
