In the context of SNS, media literacy has been argued to be especially important "in order to make the users aware of their rights when using SNS tools, and also help them acquire or reinforce human rights values and develop the behaviour necessary to respect other people's rights and freedoms". ①With regard to peer-to-peer risks such as bullying, this last element is of particular importance. ②This relates to a basic principle that children are taught in the offline world as well: 'do not do to others what you would not want others to do to you'. ③Children's SNS activities should be encouraged when we help them accumulate knowledge. ④This should also be a golden rule with regard to SNS, but for children and young people it is much more difficult to estimate the consequences and potential serious impact of their actions in this environment. ⑤Hence, raising awareness of children from a very early age about the particular characteristics of SNS and the potential long-term impact of a seemingly trivial act is crucial.

While most of us think of burning as a process in which flames and smoke occur, there are in reality many modes of burning accompanied by neither flame nor smoke. ①Iron, for example, burns when it rusts, because it slowly combines with the oxygen of the air and is transformed into new substances. ②When the air is dry, iron does not unite with oxygen, but when moisture is present in the air, the iron unites with the oxygen and turns into iron rust. ③The burning is slow and unaccompanied by the fire and smoke so familiar to us, but the process is none the less burning. ④Oxygen plays a vital role in the breathing processes and in the metabolism of living organisms. ⑤Burning which is not accompanied by any of the appearances of ordinary burning is known as oxidation.

Most people believe that a steak seared at high temperature is juicier, for the seared crust "seals in the meat's natural juices." This is completely false. ①Technically speaking, a steak cooked at high temperature contains less of its own juice, as that alluring sizzling noise is actually the sound of the meat's own liquid evaporating into thin air. ②If you salt meat before grilling, the salt will draw out the moisture and make it dry. ③Nevertheless, what most people believe is true: even if a well-seared steak is literally drier, it still tastes juicier. ④The simple explanation of this illusion is that the appearance of a well-seared steak --its crust crisp, its interior tender-- makes our mouth water in anticipation. ⑤As a result, when we eat the more appetizing-- yet less juicy-- steak, the meat seems to be juicier.

Back in the earliest days of theater in ancient Greece, Aristotle highlighted the difference between tragedy and comedy. ①So countless theater companies have always regarded as their trademarks the opposite weeping mask of tragedy and the smiling mask of comedy. ②The essence of comedy is a happy ending, and the audience is intended to enjoy the triumph of a lowly, often mischievous character. ③The essence of tragedy is the downfall of a good or noble person through some fatal error, and the audience is intended to feel pity and fear that lead them to catharsis. ④The stage performance seeks to engage the audience's imagination, and help them understand the ideas by living through them in heir imagination. ⑤Yet most of the best tragedies are leavened with laughter, because humor helps engage an audience; and many of the best comedies have a darker or sadder side that likewise helps engage the audience's sympathies.

Music and speech have quite a bit in common and have positive effects on each other. They both use pitch and timing to get information across, and both require memory and attention skills. ①Studies show children with musical training have more neural activity in response to changes in pitch during speech than those without such training. ②An enhanced ability to detect changes in pitch might help musicians better judge emotions in speech or distinguish a statement from a question. ③However, listening to music while you are in the middle of performing a task can be distracting. ④Musically trained children have better vocabularies and reading abilities than children who don't have this musical education. ⑤Musicians can better understand speech in a noisy environment, an ability likely due to the fact that they must learn to distinguish specific sounds within melodies.
